Andy Garcia


Mr. Garcia began his performance career his freshman year when he joined his high school's winter guard program in 1997. When he was 15, he expanded his marching experience when he was first introduced to the world of drum and bugle corps. He spent three summers with West Coast Sound D&BC from San Diego, CA. In 2002, Mr. Garcia was awarded a silver medal for his participation with the Seattle Cascades drum corps at the 2001 DCI world championships in the division 2 classification. He took his first Winter Guard International medal with Esperanza de Luz in the Independent Open division in 2002. Mr. Garcia had the honor of performing with the Santa Clara Vanguard D&BC placing 4th in the world both years in 2002 and 2003. Mr. Garcia later moved to the Northeast of the United States to perform with Black Watch Winter Guard, the world's oldest existing color guard program, and was fortunate enough to perform in WGI World Class Finals in Dayton, Ohio.

Mr. Garcia's most influential instructors and mentors include: Rob Jett, Allen Dekko, George Staib, Kurt Jull, Adam Sage, Rick Subel, Michael James, Denise Bonfiglio, Greg Lagola, Michael Shapiro and Joseph Heininger.

Mr. Garcia has worked with numerous award winning programs from coast to coast. He is best known for his attention to detail, the excellent training of his students (many of which have moved on to world class winter guards and drum corps) and for his program coordination of many award winning, audience favorite productions. Mr. Garcia also had the privilege of being invited to teach the movement program at United Percussion, an Independent World percussion team from Pennsauken, New Jersey, and choreograph their visual production garnering a finalist position at WGI world championships.

Mr. Garcia recently lived in Japan with his military spouse and had the opportunity to travel throughout Asia including trips to Okinawa, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. He currently resides in Destin, FL and is very excited to work with Northwest Florida Independent Open Winterguard.

Steele Jackson
Assistant Director

Steele Jackson is from Auburn, Alabama. He graduated from Beauregard High School in Opelika, Alabama in 2008. After graduation, Steele attended Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama from 2008-2009. He has an Music Education-AA Degree from Pensacola State College and currently attends the University of West Florida where he is majoring in Elementary Education.

Steele is starting is 3rd year as the Guard Director at West Florida High School in Pensacola, FL.  Before he came to West Florida High School, he was the Guard Instructor at Pine Forest High School in 2011-2012. Steele has also worked with Bay Breeze Winterguard and the Bay High School Million Dollar Color Guard in 2011. He is very excited to be both a director and performing member of Northwest Florida Independent Open Winterguard.
